Han Solo was my favorite original trilogy character, not counting Darth Vader.

His sense of adventure and wit always made me grin... he seemed like the most fleshed out, real character of all of them.

I voted for Han as well...because he looked like a young Harrison Ford ... as opposed to the old looking Harrison Ford we have now.

I SHOULD have answered Qui-Gon, being as how I love that guy. But...nevertheless, I must go with the multi-layered, so NOT one-dimensional character of Palpatine, whose ingenious plot almost destroyed the Jedi and gained himself Imperial rule. He is one of the most complex characters in Star Wars...not the sociopath everyone wants him to be. It's not that easy.

I wasn't sure whether to vote for Palpatine or Sidious, since it can be argued that Sidious is Palpatine's true persona. But, since Shmi already voted for Palpy, I guess I better keep that running.

Palpatine is brilliant. He's like the evil Yoda of SW, only smarter and more powerful. I dare say he's as close to godlike as you can get, without being the Chosen One.
